Is either of the Carolina states expensive to move to?

I live in Central Ohio as a prep cook/dietary aide in a nursing home. I'm sick of Ohio and would like to move somewhere down south. I hate the cold and would like to live somewhere that I am more happy to be. I hear that North/South Carolina are nice places to live but I was wondering if they were expensive states to move to and how easy it is to find a decent paying job and a place to live.
