Given the type of noises, I'd say it's a matter of your ears interpreting vibrational energy as auditory input. The other common source of noises is astral wildlife - noises from them can be deliberately timed to be obstructive (don't worry, in the scheme of things they're no worse than insects). In both cases, the solution is just to accept the noises - fully expect them, actively listen for them from time to time as confirmation you're getting somewhere, practice practice practice really...
