Should I ask this guy to winterformal?

Winterformal is in about a montha nd it might be sadie hawkins. but even if it isn't i really want to go with this guy on track with me. recently we've become pretty good friends but now i like him more than firends and i think he feels the same way. how can i tell that he does? and is it a good idea to ask him?
